    Hi Audriana,

You may want to try signing in again later, use a different browser, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your device, or try another network in my exp I used my mobile hotspot for testing it works for me. If the error continues, contacting Microsoft Support would be the best next step.

This usually happens when there is a temporary proxy, network, or server-side issue during the sign-in process. Since you were able to access your Microsoft account previously, the issue may not be with the account itself but with a temporary connection or service problem.

I hope you find this helpful

    Hi Audriana Reardon .

Thanks for posting here in Microsoft Community, I understand that you’re unable to log in to your Microsoft account and are receiving a 502 proxy error, even though it was working last Monday.

A 502 Proxy/Bad Gateway error means your browser successfully reached Microsoft, but an intermediary server failed to return a valid response, which is typically caused by temporary Microsoft service issues, network/proxy/VPN/DNS problems, corrupted browser cache or cookies, or recent Windows or network configuration changes and it is a connection or server-side issue, not a password problem.

Here's what you can do, first try signing in to https://account.microsoft.com from a different browser, device, or network (such as mobile data instead of Wi‑Fi) to determine whether the problem is local, and if it persists, clear your browser’s cookies and cached images/files in Microsoft Edge since corrupted sign‑in data and cache issues are known causes of 502 errors then restart the browser and try again.

May I know if this happens on all devices or only on a specific browser or network?

    Best regards,

    April P.

A 502 proxy error usually indicates a temporary service or network issue rather than a problem with the Microsoft account itself.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Use the Microsoft account sign-in helper
      • Go to the Sign-in Helper: https://aka.ms/sign-in-helper
      • Enter the email or phone number used for the account.
      • Follow the guidance provided; if a problem is detected, the tool will show specific steps to resolve it.
    2. Check if the account itself has an issue
      • If the problem is not the 502 error but a sign-in failure, use the guidance in I can't sign in to my Microsoft account:
        • If the password is forgotten, follow Reset your password from that page.
        • If the password is known but not working, use the Sign-in Helper tool linked there.
    3. Try a different browser or network
      • Since the tag mentions Microsoft Edge and Windows 11, test:
        • InPrivate/InPrivate window in Edge.
        • Another browser (for example, if available on the device).
        • A different network (for example, mobile hotspot instead of home Wi‑Fi) to rule out local proxy or ISP issues.
    4. If the account appears blocked or locked
      • If any message indicates unusual activity or blocking, follow the steps in How to sign in to HotmailMy account is blocked, which points to Unblock my Outlook.com account.

If none of these steps resolve the issue and the 502 error persists across different browsers and networks, wait and try again later, as it is likely a transient service-side or network/proxy problem.

    What You Can Try

    1. Refresh the Page: Sometimes, the error is temporary.
    2. Clear Browser Cache: Old cache or cookies can cause issues.
    3. Try a Different Browser or Device: This helps rule out local issues.
    4. Check Microsoft Service Status: Visit Microsoft Service Status to see if there are known outages.
    5. Restart Your Router: Network issues can sometimes cause proxy errors.
    6. Wait and Try Again Later: If it’s a server-side issue, it may resolve on its own.
