    Hi @Oscar Frederik Sponholtz,

Good day, and thank you for the clear explanation of your situation.

Based on the information you’ve shared, it appears that you are attempting to use your school account together with another Microsoft account on the same device. When Microsoft indicates that your school email address “does not exist,” this is commonly related to the sign‑in page being used, rather than an issue with the account itself.

School accounts are classified as work or school accounts and are managed by the educational institution that issued them. As such, they must be accessed through a different sign‑in experience than personal Microsoft accounts.

If a school account email address is entered on the personal Microsoft account sign‑in page (for example, https://login.live.com), it may appear as though the account does not exist, even when the account is valid and active. While this behavior can understandably be confusing, it is expected.

However, if you sign in through Office.com, which is the correct sign‑in page for work or school accounts, and the system still indicates that your account does not exist, this would suggest that the issue is specific to how the account is configured or managed. In that case, I recommend contacting your school’s IT administrator or support team, as they are responsible for managing student accounts and are best positioned to verify the account status or assist with access issues.

I hope this information is useful. Thank you for taking the time to raise this question. If you need any specific clarification or additional guidance, please feel free to let me know, and I’ll be happy to provide further information.

The school account and the personal Microsoft account are different types of accounts, and they cannot be merged into one. They can only be used side by side.

When the message says the school email “doesn’t exist,” it usually means one of these:

    1. The email is not a Microsoft account for personal services.
    2. The email is only a work/school account managed by the school and must be used in the correct place (for example, Microsoft 365 for business/education sign-in, not personal account pages).

To use both accounts on the same computer and in apps:

    1. Use the school account only to sign in to school/organization services (for example, Microsoft 365 Education, Teams, school OneDrive) via the work/school sign-in.
    2. Use the personal Microsoft account for personal services (Outlook.com, Xbox, personal OneDrive, Microsoft Store, etc.).
    3. Do not try to “combine” or “merge” the two accounts; this is not supported.
    4. If the same email address appears as both a personal and a work/school account and a “Which account do you want to use?” prompt appears, select the correct one (Work or school account for school services, Personal account for personal services).

If the goal is to use apps with both accounts on the same PC, use these supported options instead of merging:

    • Add both accounts in Outlook so mail from school and personal accounts can be used together.
    • Add both work/school and personal OneDrive accounts in the OneDrive client (storage stays separate; files can be copied between them).
    • Create separate profiles in Microsoft Edge and sign each profile into a different account.
    • Add separate user accounts on Windows if needed so each account has its own environment.

If the school email truly is not recognized anywhere (for example, cannot sign in at the school’s Microsoft 365 portal), contact the school’s IT department so they can check whether the school account is created and active.
