The repeated charge and the bank contacting about it indicate an unrecognized or disputed Microsoft payment. Community forums and this service cannot access or change account-specific billing, so the next steps must be done directly in the Microsoft account and with Microsoft Support.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Investigate what the charge is for
      • Sign in to the Microsoft account dashboard that might be associated with the charge.
      • Go to the Manage your payments page and select Investigate next to the unrecognized charge: Manage your payments.
      • This flow helps identify whether it is:
        • A Microsoft subscription with recurring billing enabled.
        • A purchase made by a family member using that card.
        • A previously declined charge that was reprocessed.
        • A pre-order or split order that has now shipped.
        • An in-app purchase from an app or game.
      • Detailed guidance: How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft.
    2. Check for subscriptions and recent orders
      • In the same Microsoft account, go to Subscriptions (for example, Microsoft 365) and verify:
        • Which subscriptions are active.
        • Whether recurring billing is turned on.
        • The next billing date and payment method.
      • If a subscription was cancelled very close to the billing date (less than 2 days before), a charge can still occur. See: Unable to cancel your Microsoft subscription – Why am I still being charged after cancelling my Microsoft subscription?
    3. If the charge is not recognized or is duplicate
      • If the investigation shows a charge that should not have occurred (for example, duplicate billing or a subscription that should have been cancelled), request a refund using the official refund process for Microsoft subscriptions: How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription.
      • If the charge relates to a Microsoft Store app or game and there is a specific issue, contact Microsoft Store Support as described in the chargeback article.
    4. Contact Microsoft Support for account-specific help
      • For repeated or unclear charges, contact Microsoft Support directly (billing team) so they can securely review the account and payment methods. Use the official Contact Microsoft Support entry point from the support articles and choose the Billing or Billing and payment updates category, then select chat or call-back.
    5. If Microsoft and the investigation cannot locate or justify the charge
      • If the charge cannot be matched to any Microsoft account or subscription, or appears fraudulent, continue working with the bank/financial institution to dispute it as an unauthorized transaction (chargeback). The bank may process a refund and may keep the card blocked and issue a new one.

Because this involves sensitive billing data, resolution requires working directly with Microsoft Support and the bank; community tools cannot perform refunds or account changes.
