To try to fix this first make sure your account actually owns Bedrock. Go to https://www.microsoft.com/store, sign in with the Microsoft account you use for Minecraft, open your Library, and look for “Minecraft for Windows.” If it is not listed there, then that account does not qualify and Java will not unlock. Also, While still signed in on the same account, go to https://www.minecraft.net/store/minecraft-java-bedrock-edition-pc. If it says “Play,” then you already own Java and the issue is likely with the launcher. If it says “Buy,” then the Java entitlement is missing on that account. You can also, ask your friend which Microsoft account owns Bedrock, where it was purchased, and whether Java unlocked automatically on that same account. In most cases, this comparison immediately explains why one of you has Java and the other does not.
