Why is there no official app from Microsoft for viewing and editing PDF even after so many years? Why do I have to open PDF inside microsoft edge browser? Why can't there just be a dedicated app?? Everything has a dedicated app from microsoft be it viewing photos or watching videos or listening to music yet there is no app for editing PDF, why? I want answers.

For advanced PDF tasks (editing, redaction, form creation), Microsoft doesn’t aim to replace specialized tools. Adobe Acrobat is often mentioned simply because it’s an industry standard this is a scope decision, not a recommendation. If you prefer not to use Edge, you can change the default PDF app anytime via: Settings, Apps and Default apps then pdf.

Microsoft treats Edge as the PDF app to avoid building and maintaining a separate one, even if that’s inconvenience for users who just want a simple viewer. Also, Microsoft deliberately limits PDF editing to avoid undermining Adobe, offering only basic features so it doesn’t replace Acrobat or disrupt enterprise agreements.
