every time Windows wants to update I get an error message.

The following things need your attention to continue the installation and keep your windows settings, personal files and apps.

VirtualBox

Uninstall this app now because it isn't compatible with Windows 11.

I have uninstalled this app, I have removed all file and other parts of this, there seams to be no way that I can update Windows 11 to 25h2.

Any suggestions out there?? of what I can do??

If you no longer have VirtualBox installed on your PC, then that error is usually caused by having an Android Emulator or the DN Player installed on your PC, those also use VirtualBox in the background.

If you have them installed, uninstall them and restart your PC, then try the upgrade.

Open File Explorer, then navigate to C:\Program Files

Is there a folder named dnplayerext2 if there is inside that folder you will find virtualbox.exe delete that file

Then restart your PC and check if you are still blocked form updating your PC

If you are still blocked, I will find the blocking file for you.

Open File Explorer, then navigate to your C drive.

Paste this into the search box and press Enter, then wait for the results to be found:

    *_APPRAISER_HumanReadable.xml

Create a new folder on your Desktop and copy any files found on that search into that folder

Then upload that folder to the Cloud (OneDrive... etc.) and post a share link here, I will analyze those files for you.

Use the Windows setup “What needs your attention” page to clear the VirtualBox compatibility block, then retry the 25H2 upgrade.

    1. When the upgrade stops and shows the VirtualBox message, choose one of these options on that same screen:
      • If an Uninstall button is available, select it to let setup automatically remove the detected VirtualBox components. The page should refresh and allow the upgrade to continue.
      • If there is a Learn more or update instead link, select it, follow the guidance to update/remove the incompatible version, then return to the What needs your attention page and select Refresh.
    2. If VirtualBox cannot be updated or automatically removed, manually uninstall any remaining components:
      • Remove VirtualBox from Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features if it still appears.
      • If manual removal is required, follow the steps in Repair apps and programs in Windows (for example, using the app’s own uninstaller or repair options). After removal, go back to the What needs your attention page and select Refresh.
    3. If the message still appears after all VirtualBox components are removed, treat it as an incompatible app error and perform a general upgrade repair:
      • Apply the General fixes for upgrade errors: remove nonessential external hardware, make sure Windows Update and drivers are fully updated, temporarily uninstall non‑Microsoft antivirus and other nonessential software.
      • Retry the upgrade to Windows 11 25H2 from Settings > Windows Update.

If the block persists even after these steps, use an in‑place upgrade with the latest Windows 11 25H2 installation media and repeat the same process on the What needs your attention screen (update/uninstall, then Refresh).
