I understand how concerning it is to be prompted to use Microsoft 365 after you’ve already purchased a standalone version of Office.

Make sure you are signed in to the same Microsoft account that was used to purchase or renew the subscription, then go to: https://account.microsoft.com/services

Confirm that your Microsoft office subscription shows as active and not expired. If it is active, the issue is likely sync-related.

Open any Office app (Word, Excel, etc.), sign out of your account, then sign back in using the correct account to refresh the license.

Go to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now to ensure your apps are fully updated.

If the issue persists, you may need to reinstall Office:

In your search bar, type Control Panel and press Enter > Programs > Programs and Features.

Locate Microsoft 365 subscription or any Office apps installed on your computer, right-click on them, and select Uninstall.

Restart your computer to ensure the changes take effect.

Then reinstall it using the steps below:

    Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services

Sign in using the Microsoft account associated with your license.

Locate Microsoft Office and click Install.

This will download the Office installer.

Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
