How did I pin restart to taskbar

Hi,

Do you mean pinning a Restart button on your taskbar? If so, you may be able to do that by creating a shortcut with the restart command. You can try the following and see if it helps:

• Right-click on your desktop > New > Shortcut
• Paste the restart command: C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /r /t 0
• Click Next then name it Restart
• Right-click on the Shortcut file > Show more options > Pin to taskbar

You can also change the icon before pinning to the taskbar, so it won't have the generic icon.

Windows 11 does not provide a built-in, direct “Restart” button that can be pinned to the taskbar, but any app or shortcut can be pinned. The supported part is pinning a shortcut once it exists.

After creating a Restart shortcut (for example, on the desktop), pin it like any other app:

1. Right-click the Restart shortcut.
2. Select Pin to taskbar.

If the shortcut is already open or visible on the taskbar, it can also be pinned by:

1. Right-clicking its icon on the taskbar.
2. Selecting Pin to taskbar.

To remove it later, right-click the pinned icon on the taskbar and select Unpin from taskbar.
