Hello Prince Sharma,
It looks like the issue you’re seeing is related to how the Microsoft system validates some Nepal phone numbers (+977). This can happen even when the number is correct, so you’re not doing anything wrong.
Here are a few things you can try:
- Add the phone number from the Security page (most important) Please avoid adding it during sign-in prompts and try from here instead: https://account.microsoft.com/security
Then follow:
Go to Advanced security options
Under Ways to prove who you are, select Add a new way
Choose Phone number
Enter your number in this format (no spaces, no leading 0): +97797XXXXXXXX or+97798XXXXXXXX
- Try “Call me” instead of SMS If the text message option doesn’t work or is unavailable:
Select Call me
Sometimes voice verification works even when SMS doesn’t.
- Keep a backup recovery method Before making changes, please make sure you still have:
At least one recovery email or method active
This helps protect your account in case phone verification isn’t working yet.
- If it still doesn’t work You may need to contact support so they can check this further: https://support.microsoft.com
When contacting them, you can mention: You’re unable to add a Nepal phone number (+977) and the system is rejecting a valid number.
Quick note: Try not to submit the number too many times in a short period, as that can temporarily block further attempts.
If you get stuck at any step or see an error message, send it over. I’ll walk you through it. I hope this help.
Have a nice day!
