Hi Team,

I am trying to add an additional user account for Visual Studio licenses, but I am encountering the following error:

"No more licenses available for this account. Please contact support."

Currently, we have 3 active accounts, and up to 5 user licenses are allowed. I have also removed a few previously assigned users, but the issue still persists.

Could you please help us understand why this error is occurring and advise on how we can resolve it?

Please refer to the attached screenshot for more details.

As Visual Studio was giving a login issue, we deleted the previous account, created a new account, and tried to add a new Microsoft account in the license area.

Thank you,

Vikram Gharge

The error indicates that no assignable Visual Studio subscriptions are available for the account being used, even though it appears that capacity should exist. From the provided information, only the following supported actions can be recommended:

    1. Verify that the Microsoft account being added actually has an active Visual Studio subscription associated with it. If the subscription or trial has expired, Visual Studio will not accept it as a license source. In Visual Studio, go to File > Account Settings and review the license information on the right side of the dialog to confirm status.
    2. If the previous account was deleted and a new one created, ensure that the Visual Studio subscription was reassigned to the new account in the subscription management portal. If the subscription is not mapped to that identity, Visual Studio will show as unlicensed and may report that no licenses are available.
    3. If there is another account in the organization that has an active Visual Studio subscription, add that account in Visual Studio:
      • Select the profile icon in the upper-right corner.
      • Choose Add another account.
      • Sign in with the Microsoft account that has the subscription. Visual Studio should then pick up the license from that account.
    4. If the subscription for the intended user has expired, renew the subscription or use a product key instead:
      • In File > Account Settings, select Unlock with a Product Key.
      • Enter the Visual Studio product key associated with the subscription.
    5. If the account being used is from a private cloud or GCC High tenant, be aware that such identities are not supported for licensing Visual Studio IDE. A public tenant account is required to access Visual Studio subscriptions and sign in to the IDE. In that case, work with the organization to use or create a public tenant and assign the subscription there.
    6. If the issue persists after confirming that:
      • the user’s subscription is active,
      • it is correctly assigned to the Microsoft account being added,
      • and the tenant type is supported, then open a support case for Visual Studio subscriptions and licensing so that the subscription team can check allocation and back-end license state.
