Please tell me how to block certain sites from advertising to me in my search results.

I saw previous responses on how to block ads from certain companies from advertising to you and they all contain, download chrome and another extension, if I download chrome there is no way I will be coming back to your browser. DO BETTER. I have never and will never click a link to any of these sites.

I can no longer shop because all I get are pages and pages of sponsored ads from cheap overseas stores who sell junk and scam items. You know the ones who I am talking about.

I want to be able to have all my searches give me real local brick and mortar stores.

Hi, are you signed in to your account in Edge when you search?

Open Edge, go to Settings, Privacy, search, and services, set Tracking prevention to Strict, then scroll down and turn off Personalization and advertising under Services. Next, go to Bing, open the menu, select Settings, then More, set SafeSearch to Strict, turn off “Personalized results,” and confirm your Region is set to your country so results favor local stores. You can also scroll to the bottom of Bing results and switch Results filter to show “Web” instead of Shopping when needed. These steps reduce targeted ads and push more relevant local results instead of repeated sponsored listings.

Microsoft Edge and Bing do not currently provide a built‑in way to permanently block specific domains from ever appearing as sponsored results while still using normal web search.

However, several steps can reduce intrusive or misleading ads and improve overall result quality:

    1. Use an ad blocker in Edge (desktop)
Install a reputable ad‑blocker extension from the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store. These can hide many sponsored blocks and ad units on results pages:
      • Open Edge.
      • Go to the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store.
      • Install an ad blocker (for example, uBlock Origin or Adblock Plus) to block intrusive ads and many ad placements.
For general guidance on extensions and security, see the section on installing extensions in Edge: how to add, turn off or remove extensions in Microsoft Edge.
    2. Use Edge’s tracking and privacy protections
Stronger tracking prevention and privacy extensions can reduce ad targeting based on prior activity, which may indirectly reduce how often certain advertisers follow searches:
      • In Edge, open Settings and more (…).
      • Go to SettingsPrivacy, search, and services.
      • Use stricter tracking prevention and consider adding privacy‑focused extensions (tracker/script blockers) from the Add-ons store.
    3. Use an ad blocker on Edge mobile (Android/iOS)
On mobile Edge, built‑in content blocking can hide many ads:
      • Tap … → Settings → Content blockers.
      • Turn on Block ads.
      • To block as many ads as possible, go to Advanced settings and turn Allow acceptable ads off.
    4. Report bad or misleading ads / results
When a sponsored result is clearly low‑quality, misleading, or scam‑like, use the feedback tools so it can be reviewed and potentially reduced or removed:
      • In Edge or Bing, use the built‑in Feedback option (often via … → Help and feedback → Send feedback or a feedback link near the result).
      • Include the exact query, the domain, and why it is problematic (scam, counterfeit, misleading, etc.).
    5. Favor local results in queries
While this does not block advertisers, adding locality terms can push more local brick‑and‑mortar results higher:
      • Include city/region names or phrases like “near me”, “in‑store”, or the chain name.
    6. Keep Edge updated and hardened
Ensure Edge is current and use security/privacy extensions to reduce exposure to malicious or scammy ad networks, as described in the Edge security guidance.

There is no supported setting in Edge or Bing today that lets users maintain a personal blocklist of specific shopping domains that will never appear as sponsored results. The most effective available controls are ad‑blocking extensions, Edge’s content blockers on mobile, and consistent use of feedback on bad ads.
