Running up to date Win 11 and Edge. Last week on reboot I lost all my open Edge tabs.

I already looked in history menu, nothing there to reopen.

Tried Ctrl+Shift+T , no luck

Tried restart Edge, no luck

Tried Local File Recover, no luck

Any ideas?

    Hi Steven,

Thank you for posting your question here!

If those steps already failed, recovery is usually not possible. However, you can try these steps:

    1. Check Edge sync then Edge settings profiles sync. After that, look for Open tabs on other devices
    2. Check for a reset profile. Close Edge. Then go to C: Users yourusername AppData Local Microsoft Edge User Data. Look for Profile 1 or another profile folder, then reopen Edge and switch profiles

If neither shows your tabs, unfortunately, they are gone. This usually happens after a Windows update or forced reboot.

    Hi Steven,

Just to set expectations, if those steps already failed, recovery is usually not possible. Just try these two things:

    1. Check Edge sync then Edge settings profiles sync. After that look for Open tabs on other devices
    2. Check for a reset profile then close Edge. After that, go to C Users yourusername AppData Local Microsoft Edge User Data. Look for Profile 1 or another profile folder Reopen Edge and switch profiles

If neither shows your tabs, unfortunately, they are gone. This usually happens after a Windows update or forced reboot.

Edge does not provide a supported way to recover all previously open tabs if they are missing from History and Ctrl+Shift+T no longer restores them. When History is empty for those pages and session-restore shortcuts fail, the prior session data has already been removed or overwritten and cannot be reconstructed by built‑in tools.

    The only available options are:

    1. Confirm there is no remaining session data
      • Open Edge and check History again.
      • Use Ctrl+Shift+T a few more times to ensure no older windows are restored.
      • If nothing appears, the previous session is no longer available.
    2. Focus on preventing future loss
      • Sign in to Edge and enable sync so that favorites and some browsing data are backed up to the profile.
      • Regularly save important tab sets as Favorites or Collections so they can be reopened even after crashes or reboots.

If Edge becomes unstable or fails to restore sessions repeatedly, follow the standard stability steps:

    1. Close other tabs, extensions, and apps to free memory.
    2. Make sure Edge is up to date via Settings and more > Settings > About Microsoft Edge.
    3. Clear cached images and files if page display or loading is unreliable.
    4. If problems persist, use Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps, select Microsoft Edge, choose Modify, and run Repair (browser data and settings should not be affected by repair).

Once a session is gone from both History and the session-restore mechanism, Edge does not offer any further recovery mechanism for those lost tabs.
