can’t access authenticator app

I put my email and password into authenticator app, and then it asks me to verify my identity with a code, which is sent to authenticator, which I can’t access without the code. I can’t get into my school email without it

    Dear @Victoria Bremner,

Thank you for reaching out. I’m sorry you’re running into this.

From your description, this looks like a Microsoft Authenticator verification loop. This happens when your work or school account is set to use Microsoft Authenticator for verification, but the app can no longer complete the approval process, so it keeps asking for a code that you can’t access.

Because this is a school account, the Microsoft Authenticator settings and recovery options are managed by your school’s IT administrator, not by the end user. Unlike personal Microsoft accounts, there isn’t a self‑service way to bypass or reset MFA for work or school accounts.

Once you’re able to contact your school’s IT support, this issue is usually resolved quite quickly. They can reset your MFA methods or require you to re‑register Microsoft Authenticator, which will allow you to sign in again and set up the app properly. Please don’t worry, this is a common scenario for IT teams to handle.

Your administrator can follow the guidance in the following article: Manage authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multi-factor authentication

If you’re unsure who your administrator is, this article may help: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?

Please note that this forum is a user‑to‑user support space, and moderators don’t have access to accounts or the ability to reset authentication methods.

I hope your IT team can help you regain access soon. If you need any clarification or have follow‑up questions, feel free to reply here.

    Warm regards,
