    Hi sean,

Thank you for posting your question here!

OpenGL is not something you download on its own. It is included with your graphics drivers. On Windows 10 your Intel HD Graphics 520 and NVIDIA GeForce 940MX already support OpenGL 4.6, so the issue is usually outdated drivers or the game using the wrong graphics card. To fix this install the latest Intel graphics driver from the Intel website and the latest NVIDIA GeForce 940MX driver from the NVIDIA website, then restart your PC. After that open NVIDIA Control Panel, go to Manage 3D settings, add the game.exe, and set it to use the High-performance NVIDIA processor. Since these are old games, also right click the game.exe, open Properties, enable Compatibility mode for Windows 7 or XP, and run it as administrator.

OpenGL support on Windows is provided by the graphics drivers from the GPU vendors, not by a separate “OpenGL 4.6 driver” download from Microsoft.

For Windows 10, graphics drivers are obtained in these ways:

    1. Windows Update (recommended)
      • Windows 10 does not include 3rd‑party graphics drivers “in box”.
      • For upgrades and clean installs, Windows Update is expected to deliver the appropriate Intel and NVIDIA drivers when the PC is online.
      • Ensure the PC is connected to the Internet and run Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update → Check for updates so Windows Update can install the latest drivers for Intel HD 520 and NVIDIA GeForce 940MX.
    2. Vendor/OEM website
      • If Windows Update does not provide suitable drivers, they must be downloaded directly from the hardware vendor (Intel/NVIDIA) or the PC OEM site and installed manually.
      • This is required if the PC is offline during setup or if newer drivers are only available from the vendor.
    3. When no suitable driver exists
      • Some older or end‑of‑life adapters may not have fully featured Windows 10 drivers on Windows Update.
      • In that case, Windows may fall back to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter (MSBDA), which has limited capabilities and is not suitable for advanced OpenGL.
      • If no appropriate Windows 10 driver is available from Windows Update or the vendor, the options are:
        • Stay on an older OS that has working drivers,
        • Accept the limitations of MSBDA, or
        • Use a newer graphics card that has supported Windows 10 drivers.

To play OpenGL‑based games, ensure that:

    • Windows Update has installed the vendor drivers (not MSBDA), and
    • If necessary, download and install the latest Intel HD 520 and NVIDIA 940MX drivers from the manufacturer/OEM site.

If after that the hardware still does not expose the OpenGL version required by the games, it is a hardware/driver limitation rather than something that can be fixed from the Windows side.
