    Hi Anne Brown,

When the Windows 11 taskbar overlaps Outlook content, such as new email tabs or the bottom portion of the window, it’s usually related to how the taskbar or display scaling is currently configured.

In addition to Q&A Assist's answer, here are some extra adjusting steps that you can follow to restore the correct layout:

    1, Disable taskbar auto‑hide

    • Right‑click the taskbar > Taskbar settings
    • Expand Taskbar behaviors
    • Turn Automatically hide the taskbar Off

    2, Check display scaling

    • Go to Settings > System > Display
    • Set Scale to 100% and sign out/in to refresh the display

    3, Refresh the window layout

    • Resize the Outlook window manually, or
    • Press Windows + Left Arrow, then Windows + Right Arrow to re‑snap the window

Please also confirm updates are installed

    • Open Settings > Windows Update and check for updates
    • Ensure Outlook is fully up to date

These steps help Windows recalculate the usable screen space so Outlook can display all content correctly.

    Hi there,

I am an independent advisor, trying to help other users in the Community with my experience in Microsoft products. Please note that I am a user like you and don't work directly for Microsoft.

I understand that this issue affects your ability to view and interact with Outlook properly, especially when composing or switching between new email tabs. that you are able to copy a link, but you cannot highlight it by sliding your mouse across the text, and you are unsure where the copied link is stored.

I can imagine how frustrating this can be, particularly when you rely on Outlook for daily work and important communication and part of the interface is hidden from view.

This behavior commonly occurs due to a Windows eleven taskbar scaling or display rendering issue, especially when display scaling is set above one hundred percent, the taskbar is set to auto hide, or when Outlook is running in a maximized browser or app window that does not properly adapt to the taskbar height.

To resolve this, you can first right click the taskbar, open Taskbar settings, and turn off auto hide if it is enabled, then check Display settings and temporarily set the scaling to one hundred percent to test if the Outlook window repositions correctly.

You can also try resizing the Outlook window manually instead of keeping it maximized, or press the Windows key plus arrow keys to snap the window so it recalculates screen boundaries. If the issue persists, restarting Windows Explorer from Task Manager or ensuring Windows and Edge or Outlook are fully updated often resolves known layout bugs documented in Learn Microsoft discussions for Windows eleven taskbar overlap issues.

May I know if this is happening while using Outlook on the web in a browser or the classic or new Outlook desktop app, and whether your display scaling is set above one hundred percent?

Please feel free to reply with those details or let me know if the steps above improved the behavior, and I will be glad to help you further until the issue is fully resolved.

Please understand that I am an independent advisor and only trying to assist in the best possible way. Kindly let me know if the possible solutions provided help and if you need any other assistance, I will be more than happy to help further.

Change the taskbar behavior so it doesn’t cover Outlook’s bottom area.

    Use one of these options:

    1. Auto‑hide the taskbar
      1. Right‑click the taskbar and select Taskbar settings, or open Settings > Personalization > Taskbar.
      2. Expand Taskbar behaviors.
      3. Turn on Automatically hide the taskbar.
The taskbar will slide away when not in use, so it won’t block Outlook’s new email tabs or page content.
    2. Adjust Outlook window position/size If Outlook is maximized and the taskbar is set to always show, restore the Outlook window (click the middle button in the top‑right corner of the window) and resize it so its bottom edge sits above the taskbar.
    3. Check taskbar alignment (if icons are overlapping controls)
      1. Right‑click the taskbar and select Taskbar settings.
      2. Expand Taskbar behaviors.
      3. Under Taskbar alignment, choose Left or Center as preferred.

If the issue persists only with Outlook, also verify that Outlook is not minimized to the notification area (system tray) instead of the taskbar by right‑clicking the Outlook icon in the notification area and ensuring Hide When Minimized is not selected.
