I disabled my device through my account- devices on my school account because I didn't recognise it, I can't re-add it myself, but it says to contact the administrator. I contacted the school and went through troubleshooting, where they got me to remove my account and try re-add it, but it still doesnt let me. They said to contact Microsoft since they can't do anything on their end other than what they have done. Is there a way for me to fix it myself? Maybe have the IT department at uni fix it with clear instructions on what they have to do? Or will I need Microsoft to re-enable my device?

    Dear @Jess,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, you disabled your device from the My Account, Devices page on your school account and are now unable to re‑add it yourself, as it asks you to contact the administrator. After troubleshooting with your university IT, the issue still persists. You were advised to contact Microsoft, but you’d like to know whether there is any way to fix this yourself, whether the university IT team can resolve it with specific instructions, or if Microsoft must re‑enable the device.

Unfortunately, you cannot re‑enable or re‑add the device yourself. Microsoft Support cannot override this either and only your university’s IT administrator can fix it by re‑enabling or re‑registering the device in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).

You can ask your IT to check suggestion below:

    Re‑enable the device

Sign in with your admin credentials and go to Devices under the Settings or Security & Privacy section

From there you can review the list of devices associated with your account and re-enable the one that was disabled. If the device does not appear or was removed entirely you can reconnect it by going to the device itself opening Settings select Accounts select Access Work or School and re-adding your Microsoft account. This will re-register the device and restore access to your apps.

You also can refer to this similar case https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/48985/re-enable-device to check whether it can help you resolve your issue

I hope it could help you resolve the issue and meet your expectation. If not, please feel free to reach out.

    Looking forward to your update.
