I have an older program and when I click on the help button, it does not bring up help
If that program is very old, then most likely the software developer compiled the help files into a .hlp file which is not supported on modern versions of Windows, modern software uses a .chm file.
Open the folder the program is installed into, are you able to find a .hlp files in there, if so, you will not be able to open the Help system for that program.
In Windows 10 you could download an app that would allow a program that uses a .hlp file to bring up the help file in the app
If you found the .hlp file, you can use the free trial version of the Help and Manual app to convert the .hlp file to a .chm filehttps://www.helpandmanual.com/downloads.html
