Our teams planner in two different channels is missing. I had just looked at them yesterday and now they are gone. Does anyone know why they would have disappeared?

    Hi @Kuck, Jen

    Thank you for reaching out.

At the moment, there is a known incident affecting the Planner app that may prevent it from appearing in Microsoft Teams. Your IT administrator can find additional details and updates by referencing Issue ID TM1261085

    User's image

In some cases, administrators may be able to mitigate the impact by updating the Planner app assignment in the Teams admin center (TAC), changing it from “No one” to “Everyone.” This may take effect after clearing the Teams cache and signing out and back in.

You should share this information with your IT administrator so they can review and adjust the setting if applicable.

In the meantime, while keeping the Teams desktop app open, you can still access Planner directly by opening it in any web browser: https://teams.microsoft.com/l/app/com.microsoft.teamspace.tab.planner

At this stage, no action is required on your part. Once systems are fully restored, Teams should begin functioning normally again without the need to make changes to your settings or devices. That said, I kindly hope you can remain patient a little longer while the engineering teams continue working hard to fully restore the best possible experience for all users.

Also, as many members of the community may not yet be aware of this incident, I hope you find this information helpful. Sharing or highlighting this response can help bring greater visibility to the issue, making it easier for others who are experiencing similar challenges to find relevant information and support.

I hope this provides enough clarity and helps you stay inform with your current situation.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

Planner in Teams has recently changed, which can make it seem like plans or the Planner app have disappeared when they have actually been renamed or moved in the UI.

Key points from the current Planner experience in Teams:

    1. The Tasks by Planner and To Do app was renamed to Planner in April 2024. If looking for “Tasks” or “Tasks by Planner and To Do” in Teams, look for Planner instead.
    2. Planner is available in two ways:
      • As the Planner app on the left rail in Teams (showing My Day, My Tasks, My Plans, and New Plan).
      • As a tab in a channel within a team. If a Planner tab seems missing, verify that the tab has not been removed or renamed in that specific channel.
    3. If the Planner app itself is missing from Teams:
      • It may have been turned off or restricted by an administrator. The documentation notes that if Planner is not visible, the organization might not have the app turned on; in that case, an admin must enable it in Teams.
    4. If using the web version of Planner separately, be aware that the Teams-integrated Planner experience is optimized for collaboration in Teams. To ensure seeing the same plan from Teams in the browser, use the Go to website option from the Planner tab, which opens the synchronized version at tasks.office.com.

Given that the plans were visible yesterday and not today, the most likely causes are:

    • The Planner app/tab was renamed or removed in those channels.
    • Admin settings changed, hiding or blocking the Planner app in Teams.

    Recommended checks:

    1. In each affected channel, look at the channel tabs to see if a Planner tab has been renamed or removed.
    2. In Teams, select View more apps and search for Planner to confirm the app is still available. If it is not listed, contact the Teams/Microsoft 365 administrator to verify that the Planner app is enabled.
    3. If a Planner tab is present but not showing expected data, open it and use Go to website to confirm whether the underlying plan still exists and is synchronized.
