Hello,

We are deploying a Surface Pro Hub 3 in one of our VIP offices. Is it possible to set the Surface pro Hub 3 room camera to a static shot as the VIP would like to only capture a specific part of their office. The camera angle is quite wide and it can take some time for IntelliFrame to activate.

On Surface Hub 3 with the Surface Hub Smart Camera, automatic framing (IntelliFrame/auto-framing) is built into the camera experience and is not described as supporting a user-configurable “static crop” or fixed shot.

Behavior depends on the OS configuration:

    • When running Windows 11 Pro or Windows 11 Enterprise on Surface Hub, automatic framing for the Surface Hub Smart Camera is off by default and must be turned on manually under:
      • Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Manage Cameras > Surface Hub Smart Camera
      • Leaving automatic framing turned off keeps the camera in its default wide view, which is the closest available behavior to a “static shot,” but it does not provide a configurable crop to only show part of the office.
    • When running Windows 10 Pro or Windows 10 Enterprise on Surface Hub, automatic framing is always enabled and cannot be disabled or configured, so a static shot cannot be set.

If a precise static framing of only part of the room is required (for example, to permanently exclude parts of the office), this is not exposed as a configurable feature for the built-in Surface Hub Smart Camera. In that scenario, the supported approach is to:

    • Physically reposition the Surface Hub or camera to achieve the desired field of view, or
    • Use an external USB camera with its own software/firmware that supports fixed framing or custom crops, connected via the Surface Hub’s USB ports.
