Hi we have an event for 500+ audience, with 7 presenters, one of which wants to use live polling to get responses from the audience.

Do I need a premium license for this to work?

Thanks

    Dear @Joe Bond

Thank you for reaching out. I appreciate you sharing the details of your upcoming event, and I completely understand the need to ensure live polling works smoothly for such a large audience.

To use live polls in a Microsoft Teams Town hall, the event organizer needs a Teams Premium license and must add the Polls app before the event starts. Once added, presenters can create and run polls during the session.

Please note that Word Cloud polls aren't supported, poll data stays available for eight hours after the event and polling works for audiences up to twenty thousand people.

Your setup with seven presenters is fully supported, as Town hall can display up to seven video feeds at once. If you also want to gather audience questions, Town hall includes a built‑in Q&A feature for moderated interaction.

Below are the next steps depending on your current licensing situation:

    • If the organizer can receive a Teams Premium license

Assign the Teams Premium license to the event organizer.

Schedule your Town hall and open the event settings.

Add the Polls app before the event starts. This step is required for polling to appear during the live session.

Prepare and launch your polls during the event using the Polls side panel.

Host a town hall in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Support

Poll attendees during a Teams meeting - Microsoft Support

    • If you don't have Teams Premium but still need a polling solution

Create a Microsoft Forms survey that includes the questions you want to ask.

Share the form link with attendees during the event through the Town hall Q&A or chat during the event and pin it so attendees can access it easily.

Collect and view responses directly in Microsoft Forms.

I want to check with a moderator that this is correct.
