An Azure service that is used to provision Windows and Linux virtual machines.
Account or service lockout is typically caused by Microsoft account security protections or policy violations, not by removal of ownership of the underlying work.
Based on the available information, the only supported paths are:
- If sign-in is blocked for the Microsoft account used for the web platform
- If the sign-in page does not show Next and indicates the account is locked, use the aka.ms/ link shown in the lock message to submit the Request for Account Reinstatement form. A Microsoft Online Safety agent will review it and contact by email. Do not submit multiple forms, as that slows the review.
- If the account is temporarily suspended due to suspicious activity or possible violation of the Microsoft Services Agreement (for example, spam or harmful activity), review and correct any such usage and follow the reinstatement process described above.
- If Outlook.com / Microsoft account access is blocked
- Use the Sign-in Helper to attempt to unblock the Outlook.com/Microsoft account that controls access to the platform.
- If unblocking fails even after entering security codes or changing the password, follow the guidance under When you can't sign in to your Microsoft account from the article to reset the password and reach support.
- If verification codes are not received or are blocked
- Use any phone number capable of receiving SMS (it does not need to be already associated with the account) to receive the security code.
- If a “usage limit exceeded” message appears, wait before requesting another code and review the troubleshooting steps in Troubleshooting verification code issues.
- If repeated incorrect sign-in attempts caused a temporary block
- Stop all sign-in attempts for at least 24 hours before trying again. Continued attempts can extend the lockout.
- After the wait, try alternative sign-in methods if available (for example, different verification options shown on the password page).
If the account was hacked or security info was changed, recovery is only possible through the official Microsoft account recovery and hacked-account guidance. If the recovery form ultimately fails and security info has been replaced, there is no additional escalation path in the provided material.
