I just purchased a surface 12 pro. I am not able to see any other computer on my network

I've done all that was suggested, this surface will not see any other pc's on my network

Your Surface must be on a Private network, not Public.

Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi (or Ethernet)

Click your connected network

Set Network profile = Private

Press Win + R → type services.msc

Make sure these are Running and Automatic:

Function Discovery Provider Host

Function Discovery Resource Publication

SSDP Discovery

UPnP Device Host

Open Control Panel → Network and Sharing Center

Click Change advanced sharing settings

Under Private, make sure:

Turn on Network discovery

Turn on File and printer sharing

Turn off firewall briefly
