Web Content Filtering WCF for Edge for Business needs support on Android and iOS too!

Hi Edge Team - WCF is a BRILLIANT feature and on Windows it works suprisingly well – given that is still in preview.

It does not seem to work on Android and iOS mobile Edge (yet)?

When can we expect this to happen as well?

Some thoughts on that:
I understand that you want to be VERY strict with WCF, so you automatically block all non-edge browsers. (which also works well I might add)
This may not be possible on mobile devices.
But I'd still ask for you to implement it. Edge will always be considered the "Work" browser. If users insist on using other Browsers for their personal stuff – provide an option to let them.

Our customers are mainly SMBs, where work and personal use often blend together and BYOD is common.

So we and our clients would be happy to block inappropriate content in work context, but we're not our users' moral advocates. 😁

Thanks!

    Hi!

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Yes, the current state of WCF is Available (preview) on managed Windows devices only. To answer your question regarding mobile feature. There is no documentation or feature support yet for mobile Edge (Android/iOS). (No timeline yet as we speak)

I suggest that you may log a feedback as well via Edge browser.

    Here are the steps:

    • Open Microsoft Edge
    • Click the ⋯ (three dots) menu
    • Go to Help and feedback → Send feedback
    • Describe your request: (please explain what you want)
    • Then submit

Web Content Filtering (WCF) for Microsoft Edge is currently documented and supported for managed Windows devices only. The prerequisites explicitly call out:

    • Windows 10 or later
    • Microsoft Edge version 135 or higher on those managed Windows devices

The setup, assignment, and verification steps for WCF are all described for Edge on Windows via the Microsoft Edge management service and Intune, and there is no corresponding documentation in the provided material indicating WCF support on Microsoft Edge for Android or iOS.

For mobile, the documented protection path is Intune app protection policies and the guided scenario for deploying Microsoft Edge for Mobile. These provide:

    • Dual-identity separation between work and personal browsing
    • App protection policy integration (cut/copy/paste control, managed links, etc.)
    • Azure Application Proxy integration
    • Managed favorites and home page shortcuts

However, none of the mobile documentation in the context describes category-based Web Content Filtering (WCF) on Android or iOS Edge, nor any timeline or announcement for such support.

Based on the available documentation, WCF is a Windows-only feature at this time, and mobile Edge protection is achieved through Intune app protection policies rather than WCF.
