Dear @K Naga Sumitha, Welcome to Q&A forum. I understand that when you open Microsoft Teams, the Chat section is completely blank and you are not able to see any messages from others. I know this can be confusing, and I’m here to help.
In Microsoft Teams for Education, this behavior is commonly related to chat permissions or policies set by your school, or a temporary sync issue with the Teams app. When chat is disabled, restricted, or supervised, the Chat tab may appear empty even though Teams itself is working normally.
To help us identify the exact cause, could you please provide a bit more information:
- Are you signed in using a student account or an educator/staff account?
- When did you first notice this issue? Did chat work before, or has it always been blank?
- Does this happen on all platforms (Teams desktop app, Teams on the web, and mobile), or only on one device?
- Are you able to send and receive messages in Teams channels, or is only the private Chat tab affected?
- Can other users see and message you in chat, or are they also unable to reach you?
- Have there been any recent changes made by your school IT administrator (such as new policies, role changes, or account updates)?
- Are you connected through a school network, VPN, or proxy, and does the issue also occur on a different network?
In the meantime, please try signing out of Teams and signing back in, and if possible, access Teams through a web browser to check whether chats appear there.
