I clicked the update edge button in the top right as normal and after the update my workspaces are gone, and yes I do have sync my workspaces active. How do I get them restored?

Not good for edge users.

This is a big problem. Previously this MS developers messed up collections in the same way. Now this time again simply wiped out 3 years of work.

    Good day Brandon Hebert!

Thank you for reporting this issue to the Q&A forum.

From what you described, after updating Microsoft Edge your previously created Workspaces are no longer visible, even though Workspace sync is enabled. I understand this can be frustrating, especially if those Workspaces were an important part of how you organize your work. However, this behavior is likely related to Edge’s ongoing transition to a newer Workspaces architecture.

Based on recent Edge updates, the behavior of Workspaces has changed. Microsoft is migrating from the old collaborative Workspaces model which stored data in OneDrive/SharePoint and supported sharing and collaboration to a new personal‑only Workspaces architecture. The new version no longer supports collaboration, inviting others, or locking tabs, and workspace data is now handled through Edge Sync instead of OneDrive.

As part of this migration, some users may find that previously created Workspaces are no longer visible after updating Edge. If your Workspaces didn’t reappear after the update even with sync enabled, there unfortunately isn’t a documented way to automatically restore the old layout, and they may need to be recreated manually.

If this change negatively impacts your workflow, please consider submitting feedback directly to the Edge team through ... > Help and feedback in Edge. While this doesn’t guarantee immediate changes, user feedback is an important channel for influencing future product decisions.

We appreciate your time and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause!

    Best regards.

This did not resolve my issue with the missing workspaces.
