All Azure Arc onboarded servers are displaying : "Your Arc agent version 1.60 is no longer supported."

Hello,

Since today, all of our servers are displaying a message on the Overview tab taht the azcmagent version 1.60 is not supported anymore.
Example :

In the releases notes of the agent ( https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-arc/servers/agent-release-notes ) it is said "Only Connected Machine agent versions released within the last year are officially supported by the product group.".

So how is it possible that we have this message, the agent is only one month old ?

Thanks for your answer but indeed this warning is very misleading and unnecessary.
To be more precise, I didn't install anything today. All our servers (+/- 2000) started displaying this message today.

I checked one of the server who is configured with the auto upgrade, the upgrade was done yesterday (there it is ok, no message) and on another server where auto upgrade is also configured the upgrade has not been done yet.
When you check the onboarding for the auto upgrade, there is a message saying that the upgrade could take up to 4 weeks before being deployed on a server. (it is understandable, you cannot upgrade all the machines at the same time)
So that means that each month you are going to diplay this message even though the machines are already configured with auto upgrades ?

For example :

The 1.61 was made available a week ago. Do you expect everyone to update their servers on day 1 ?

At least, as a suggestion, please, change the message to say that the currently installed version is not the latest but certainly not that it is not supported anymore. Also, if auto upgrade is checked, there should be no need to display this message.
We will do the upgrade, it was already planned.

Hello MarcVanderhaegen, you installed Azure Connected Machine agent v1.60 (released January 2026). But the Azure portal now shows a banner saying it’s “not supported.” According to Microsoft’s stated policy, versions released within the last year should be supported.

The portal message reflects a one‑year support cutoff, but in practice it surfaces warnings for any version that is not the latest. This aligns with Microsoft’s general approach of encouraging customers to remain on the most recent build to ensure security updates, bug fixes, and feature parity.

Although version 1.60 remains supported under the official lifecycle policy, the UI displays an “unsupported” warning because it is not the current release. As a result, the message is misleading and appears to stem from portal‑level messaging or reporting behavior rather than an actual support expiration.

To resolve the warning and align with Microsoft’s guidance:

Download the latest agent package (i.e. Upgrade to 1.61) from Microsoft Docs. Run the upgrade on each server (or automate via script/management tool).
Enable automatic agent upgrades (preview). This ensures servers always move to the latest release without manual intervention. Configure this in Azure Arc settings.

Microsoft has adapted the message; it is not an error message anymore but an informational one showing that an updated version is available.
Now the message looks like this :

It is just a warning message and will not affect any services. You should stop receiving this message once the agent has been upgraded to the latest version.
