UET Conversion Tracking: How to disable Auto-Events in Microsoft Advertising

Hi all,

we suddenly see AutoEvents like "AutoEvent_add_to_cart", "AutoEvent_begin_checkout", "AutoEvent_purchase" or "AutoEvent_look_at_directions" and others in our UET-Tag Conversion Dashboard, that we don't want to track.

I checked my GTM and all of our Integrations, but I can't find a setting that seems to be the source of this auto-events. Any idea how we can disable them?

Thanks in advance
kivvi

    Hello Sascha Roth,

Thank you for using our Microsoft Advertising Learn Q&A Platform!

I understand that you’d like to pause or remove the auto-generated events you’re seeing. These were likely created through the Simplified Conversion Goal Setup. With this setup, you can choose the types of actions you’re interested in, and Microsoft Advertising will automatically detect those events on your website and recommend which ones to track as conversions. This removes the need to manually define events or add any code, making the overall setup much easier. Common actions it can detect include button clicks, purchases, checkouts, and subscriptions.

You can’t edit the conversion goal type or conversion goal details for auto-created goals using the simplified setup. A goal category can’t be deleted—only changed. To delete a specific goal category, you must delete the entire conversion goal. This will permanently remove all historical data associated with that goal.

To know which conversion goals on your account are created through simplified conversion goal, you can check it under the Creation Method column of your conversion goal page. User's image
