Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

No, you should not remove your account from the authenticator app on your iOS device. Here's what you have to do now to add your Microsoft account to the Authenticator app on your Android device.

    • Install the Authenticator app on your new device.
    • If you have a recovery/backup email account where you backed up all of your authenticator credentials previously on your old iOS device, you can use that account during sign-in by selecting Begin recovery on the first screen of the Authenticator app.
    • During sign-in, you will be asked to verify your identity using the Authenticator app. The sign-in prompt does not know you are using a new device; it just thinks you’re signing in to a device. Since you can’t verify it with the Authenticator app, select “I can’t use my Authenticator app right now.”

    • You will then be asked to verify your identity using alternate security contact methods such as your phone number or email address.

    • For security reasons, you will be asked to reset your password.
    • Follow the same procedure and add your account to the Authenticator app again.

To resolve the issue with the Microsoft Authenticator not working on your new Android phone, you may need to ensure that your account is properly set up in the Authenticator app on your Android device. Here are some steps you can follow:

    1. Remove the Account from iOS: Since you've already removed your account from the iOS device, ensure that it is completely unlinked.
    2. Add Account to Android: On your Android phone, open the Microsoft Authenticator app and add your account again. You may need to log in using your username and password.
    3. Use a Backup Method: If you are still having issues, check if you have any backup methods for two-step verification, such as SMS or email verification, that you can use temporarily while resolving the Authenticator issue.
    4. Re-register for MFA: If you have access to your organization's admin, ask them to reset your multi-factor authentication (MFA) settings. This will prompt you to set up the Authenticator app again using a QR code.
    5. Contact Support: If the above steps do not work, you may need to contact Microsoft support for further assistance, especially if you are the only administrator in your organization.

These steps should help you regain access to your account using the Microsoft Authenticator app on your Android device.
