Every canned "fix" says to remove the extension, or update the browser, or blah blah blah blah blah. If that's the case, then why is it happening with every browser, Microsoft? It's not my ISP. They physically checked. It's Windows. FIX IT.

    Hi Micah,

Typically this is due to an Extension.

Let us try Resetting Edge Settings to defaults using the steps below, in the hope it helps.

Click on the three-dot menu button on the right.

    Click on Settings.

    Click on Reset settings.

Click on Restore settings to their default values.

    Click on Reset.

2nd step: Sometimes extensions on the web browser might cause unintended behaviour. Please click the three dots menu again, and choose extensions.

    Click Manage extensions.

Disable all of them for testing purposes, and let me know if it works.

The error code STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION indicates that there is a memory access violation occurring, which means that the application is trying to read or write to a memory location that it is not allowed to access. This can happen for various reasons, such as issues with the browser itself, corrupted extensions, or problems with the system's memory.

To troubleshoot this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Disable Extensions: Temporarily disable all extensions in Microsoft Edge to see if any of them are causing the issue.
    2. Clear Cache and Cookies: Clear your browser's cache and cookies, as corrupted data can lead to access violations.
    3. Update Edge: Ensure that you are using the latest version of Microsoft Edge, as updates often contain fixes for known issues.
    4. Reset Edge Settings: Resetting Edge to its default settings can help resolve configuration issues that might be causing the crashes.
    5. Check for System Updates: Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date, as updates can fix underlying issues that affect applications.
    6. Run Memory Diagnostic: Use the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to check for memory issues that might be causing the crashes.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, you may want to consider reinstalling Microsoft Edge or seeking further assistance from Microsoft support.
