Updated surface pro to windows 11, however the camera has stopped working and cannot be detected. I have tried to update drivers, uninstall the camera app and reinstall it but cannot get this to work. Any support on fixing it? thanks

    Hi Emma Dutton,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum. I’m sorry to hear that your Surface Pro camera stopped working after the Windows 11 upgrade. I know how frustrating this can be, especially when everything was working fine before the update.

To help me narrow down the root cause and guide you with the most accurate steps, could you please let me know:

    1. Which Surface Pro model you’re using (e.g., Surface Pro 5, Pro 7, Pro 8, etc.)
    2. How you previously updated the drivers? Did you use Windows Update, Device Manager, or the Surface Driver Pack from Microsoft’s website?

Once I have those details, I’ll walk you through the next best actions to get your camera back up and running.

Thank you again for your patience.

It seems that you are experiencing issues with your camera after upgrading to Windows 11. The error code 0xA00F4244 indicates that the camera is not being detected, which can occur after an update due to driver compatibility issues or other settings.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Check Device Manager: Go to Device Manager and see if the camera is listed under "Imaging devices". If it has a yellow exclamation mark, it indicates a driver issue. Right-click on it and select "Update driver".
    2. Run the Windows Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. Find and run the "Camera" troubleshooter to see if it can identify and fix the issue.
    3. Reinstall Camera Drivers: In Device Manager, right-click on the camera device and select "Uninstall device". Restart your Surface Pro, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
    4. Check Privacy Settings: Ensure that your camera is allowed to be used by apps. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and make sure that access is enabled for the apps you want to use.
    5. Update Windows: Make sure that your Windows is fully updated. Sometimes, additional updates can resolve hardware compatibility issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to consider running the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (SDT) to perform a full diagnostic test on your device.
