Thanks for getting back to me. Since you're using a Surface Pro 9, that helps us take the right next steps.
Because the Surface Pro 9 comes in both Intel and 5G (ARM‑based) versions, the troubleshooting approach can differ slightly. To give you the most accurate guidance, could you kindly confirm which variant you have? You can go to Start > Settings > System > About and look under Processor:
- Intel Core i5/i7 => Surface Pro 9 (Intel)
- Microsoft SQ3 => Surface Pro 9 with 5G (ARM)
For the Surface Pro 9 (Intel), it’s safe to uninstall and reinstall the camera drivers as needed. However, for the Surface Pro 9 with 5G (ARM/SQ3), driver removal is not recommended, because restoring those drivers may require a full system reset.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding.

2025-12-30T01:28:55.7333333+00:00 Hi Ron Banchak,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum. I’m really sorry to hear that you’re running into trouble with your Surface Pro camera. I know how disruptive this can be, especially when you rely on it for work. I want to make sure we fully understand what’s going on so we can help you as quickly as possible.
To help me understand the issue better, could you share exactly what you’re seeing on your end? For example, any error code, error message or any specific symptom that shows up (like the camera not being detected, a black screen, Windows Hello getting stuck, etc.).
Also, could you let me know what troubleshooting steps you’ve already tried so far? This will help us avoid repeating anything you’ve already done and allow us to move straight toward the right fix.Thanks for your patience. We’ll sort this out together.
