Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Hello Barbara Devonshire-Ward, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.
Could you clarify what you mean by “paired”? For example, did you use a migration tool to copy files and settings, sign in with the same Microsoft account on both devices, or something else? These actions do not uninstall Office, but if the old laptop was reset or re-imaged during setup, Office could have been removed. Please note that Office 2019 is a one-time purchase tied to your Microsoft account, not to the hardware, so pairing devices does not deactivate or remove it.
Next, check on your old laptop under Settings > Apps (or Control Panel > Programs and Features) to see if Office 2019 is listed.
- If it is listed, the installation is likely still intact. Sometimes desktop shortcuts are removed, which can make it look like Office disappeared. To find the apps, click the Start menu, type “Word” or “Excel” in the search box, and launch the app. You can then right-click and choose Pin to taskbar or Pin to Start so they are easy to find again.
- If it is not listed, you can reinstall Office 2019 from https://account.microsoft.com/services using the account associated with your Office license.
I hope this helps clarify things. If you are still having trouble, please share more details so I can provide more accurate guidance.
Warm regards,
