I deleted Minecraft and re-downloaded it due to the app not successfully updating. After redownloading it I noticed that my worlds are missing. I went into the files and I could not access it through Minecraft at all. How can I get the rest of my worlds back on Windows 10 PC for Bedrock Minecraft?

    Hi Levi Skaggs,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum!

I understand how frustrating it can be to lose your Minecraft worlds after reinstalling the game, those creations often represent hours of effort and creativity. When Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is uninstalled on Windows 10, the local save files are usually removed unless they were backed up or synced to the cloud. Let’s go through some steps that might help you recover them.

Minecraft worlds are saved in this folder: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Packages\

    Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang\minecraftWorlds

Each world is in a folder with a random name. Inside, you’ll find a file called levelname.txt that shows the world’s name.

Here are some methods that you can recover your files:

    1 - Restore Previous Versions

    • Go to the minecraftWorlds folder.
    • Right-click → Properties → Previous Versions.
    • If available, restore a version from before you uninstalled Minecraft.

2 - Use File History or System Restore

    • If you had File History or System Restore enabled, roll back the folder or your system to a point before the uninstall.

If partial data exists, you can manually merge files:

    • Create a new world in Minecraft.
    • Replace its db folder with the contents from your old world folder.
    • Relaunch Minecraft.

    3 - Check Cloud Sync

    • Open Minecraft and sign in with the same Microsoft/Xbox account you used before.
    • If cloud saves were enabled, your worlds should reappear automatically.

If the worlds were only stored locally and the uninstall wiped them, unfortunately, recovery without backups or restore points is often not possible. But you can try recovery software like EaseUS Data Recovery or Wondershare Recoverit, install it on a different drive to avoid overwriting data.

For the future, consider regularly backing up your worlds by copying the minecraftWorlds folder to OneDrive or using the Export World feature in Minecraft.

I know how much these worlds can mean, and I hope one of these steps helps you get them back.
