Managing tabs, address bar, and search settings in Edge on Windows 11
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
I have been switching the damn searchbar to Google all day, because Microsoft Edge won't stop changing it back to Bing. Are there any solutions for this? It all happened out of nowhere, and has been happening for 5 days.
Managing tabs, address bar, and search settings in Edge on Windows 11
If you search in the Edge address bar, you can set it to Google search, and it will remain Google. Somewhere in the settings, you can set it so that when you type in the new tab search bar, the text automatically transfers to the address bar where you have it set to Google. I'm currently using Start.me as the new tab page, so I'm trying to recall what I used to do.
Unfortunately, this is the only settings that you can choose or modify the search engine in MS edge. (It's reverting back to bing could be after reboot since it is designed that way and part of system policies)
There is an advance way of checking system policies but it is not advisable as it may cause instability of MS edge.
Step 1: Remove MS Edge search policies
Step 2: Remove bing search function (registry)
Disclaimer: Do it at your own risk.
Repeat the selection of search engine and make it to google again. If all done and still goes back to bing search, that means we cannot bypass and override Microsoft policies. I suggest to use another browser that is not associated to bing, like Brave or Firefox.

Hi! Let's check some settings why it happened and change it properly.
First you need change search engine in MS Edge.
a. Open MS Edge and type this on the address bar.
edge://settings/search
b. Under "Search engine used in the address bar", choose Google
Complete this specific step first so we would know if it will revert back to Bing and do additional steps or it would fix the issue you're experiencing.
